About

After graduating from McGill University in 1984, I moved to London, Ontario to work at University Hospital. After starting with treating lung problems, cardiac and transplant rehab, I moved to orthopaedics. I created and participated in a physiotherapy exchange to Australia, after which I returned to UH, and started working evenings at the then JC Kennedy Athletic Injuries Clinic. This grew to a full time position.  Over the years and many changes, the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic was formed. I have held many positions there including Clinical and Research Coordinator, Director of Physiotherapy, and now Physiotherapy Consultant. During my tenure at the clinic I created the Sport Physiotherapy Fellowship program in 1994, which is still going strong 25 years later.

In addition to patient care, I taught the Sport Physiotherapy elective at the School of Physical Therapy at Western University for 28 years. I have also supervised and examined many masters and PhD candidates in kinesiology and physical therapy programs.

I completed a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at UWO in 1994, and began integrating research into my practice. Research topics over 20 years have included shoulder proprioception, acromioclavicular joint taping, low back pain in golfers, imagery in sport and concussion. Currently I have 27 peer-reviewed publications and have been granted more than $1,000,000 for research.
